President's Message

Fellow PAGA Members,

 

Summer is here and our golfing season is in full bloom!

 

It seems like only yesterday, but our National Winter Meeting took place in Lockhart, Texas almost ninety days ago and in between now and then, a number of local PAGA invitational tournaments have taken place.

 

Now, let's turn our attention to our 2008 National PAGA Tournament & Convention that will take place in El Paso, Texas on July 28th - August 1st.

 

The El Paso PAGA chapter will be working non stop during the next few weeks to ensure that your visit to El Paso during this convention will be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all participants and their families.

 

The excitement is building and the entries have been coming in at a steady pace. The Senior's, Juniors and Ladies have been honing up their skills along with the regular men players as the deadline of June 28th approaches.

 

A number of proposals were presented, voted on and approved during our National Winter Meeting in Lockhart, Texas. At this time, most appointments have been made and committees appointed to pursue and fulfill the commitments that will bring these new proposals to fruition. 

 

Let me assure you that our delegates meeting in El Paso will not feature as many items on our agenda so that we may all dismiss and adjourn in a timely manner to enjoy the convention at it's fullest!

 

Please be reminded that any agenda item to be considered for discussion during our El Paso delegates meeting must be forwarded to me by June 30th with at least two or more signatures of your local chapter officers.

 

On another note, let me remind everyone of our 2008 Third National PAGA Delegates Meeting & Workshop that will take place on October 17th, 18th & 19th in Deer Park, Texas which is being hosted by the Missouri City, Texas PAGA chapter. The Missouri City membership is planning a super outing for all delegates along with a great Pan-Am style golf tournament for all players interested in coming to compete in one of the Houston area's challenging golf course! Fred Salinas and his fellow Missouri City members will fill us in with all the details and schedule of activities at our delegates meeting in El Paso.

 

Let me stress the importance of having a sure quorum of 23 chapters or more for this third meeting in order to conduct official business. Ample time notice has been given for this third meeting with its introduction in Lockhart and more notice will be served in El Paso. 

 

It's always a rewarding experience to see the enthusiasm that these workshop meetings produce with all the productive input that is contributed for the betterment of our organization from a good mix of at large members.

 

Please make plans on attending this October third meeting & tournament now.

 

Our 2009 golfing year and activities are on the horizon and plans for our National 2009 National Winter Meeting & Tournament hosted by the New Braunfels, Texas chapter are being finalized.  Dates for this event will be March 27th, 28th & 29th.  More information to follow in El Paso.

 

Last but not least, our 2009 National PAGA Convention & Tournament will take place in Corpus Christi, Texas. Planning is also being worked on by their entire local membership. Dates for our 2009 National Convention & Tournament will be July 27th - July 31st. More information to follow in El Paso.

 

In closing, I want to take a moment and thank my fellow national PAGA officers for the outstanding job they do in keeping everyone abreast with the respective responsibilities that their offices require. These officers make my job a lot easier and for that, I thank Ralph Nanez - V. Pres (New Braunfels, TX), Charlene Bourgeois - Secretary (Missouri City, TX), Fabian Banda -Treasurer (Austin, TX) and Bobby Pena - Tournament & Handicap Chairman (Fort Worth, TX). I also want to thank our national PAGA web master, Mr. Alex Garcia (Dallas, TX) for the outstanding job that he has rendered to our organization thus far with his computer knowledge and wizardry.
